Beginner's Yoga
Do you have very little experience with yoga or would like more in depth explanations of the poses? Or ever feel like you are not quite sure you are doing a pose right or getting as much out of it as you could? This is the class for you. A yoga class with instructions to keep you safe in each pose. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal descriptions and demonstrations. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose. This class is taught in the Iyengar style of yoga with a focus on the structural alignment of the physical body through the practice of asanas.
You will feel safe in every pose and be able to replicate the poses in your own home practice. If the pose isn’t working for you the instructor will try to modify it to fit with your body and capabilities.

Therapeutic Chair Yoga
Do you have problems getting up and down from your yoga mat? Do yoga poses just feel impossible for you to do? Do you suffer from an injury or disability or aging that has affected your stability and mobility?
Join us for a Therapeutic Chair Yoga class! During this class we use a chair for every pose. Most often we are sitting in the chair, so no getting up and down onto a yoga mat. Therapeutic Chair yoga allows individuals to complete poses while using a chair for support and stability. The poses are often adaptations of ordinary yoga asanas.
Even while sitting in a chair this class will help with your stability and mobility by increasing your range of motion and body awareness. Chair Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities, for students who are new to yoga, confined to a desk at work, or unable to participate in a traditional yoga class because of aging, injury, or disability.

Rest & Restore Yoga
Do you find it hard to calm the mind or still the body? Does your body often feel like it is vibrating with all the energy? Do you find it hard to just slow down and breath?
Restorative Yoga is all about healing the mind and body through simple, supported poses. Restorative Yoga allows the body to slow down and relax. It is the practice of asanas, each held for longer than in conventional yoga classes. The long holding of poses is assisted with props such as folded blankets, to ensure the body is fully supported and to allow the muscles to relax. We also focus on the breath (pranayama) and relaxation.
People often find restorative yoga difficult because of the stillness of the practice but through continued practice of Rest & Restore you will find the stillness of the mind and body to help you move through your day with more gratitude, mindfulness and exploration.
No previous experience is necessary, but you will need props to support you in the poses. Items such as bolsters/pillows, blankets, strap/tie, blocks, chair, wall would all be helpful.

Wednesday 9:30 am
Stabilizing Chair Yoga
Do you feel as though you are unable to complete a yoga pose without feeling as though you are going to fall over or worse? Do you feel as though you have no stability?
During this class you will use a chair or other props to help with support in each pose. No more feeling like you are going to fall over or that you just can’t do a yoga class. Chair yoga allows individuals to complete poses while using a chair for support and stability. It is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. The poses are often adaptations of ordinary yoga asanas.
Before you know it, you will be on your way to creating stability in your practice which is a wonderful way to improve your mobility. Chair Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities, for students who are new to yoga, confined to a desk at work, or unable to participate in a traditional yoga class because of aging, injury, or disability.

How to Better Align with Yoga
for Singers
Using my yoga training, love of singing and what I have learnt from coaches over the last few years, I now offer yoga warm ups or group sessions to choral groups.
Alignment based yoga, which I teach, applies very well to singers. Singers yoga will help to warm up the body, releasing tight spots helping you create a better singers posture and create more space in the body.
Warm-ups/Sessions can either be seated or standing, with a focus on alignment of the body for better singing and opening up the body for better breath.
Warm-ups are 15 min ($15)
Full Sessions are 45 min-1 hr ($75)
These sessions can be via Zoom or in person.
Kids Wellness & Mindfulness Program
Teachers and staff who are already overworked and stressed out, may also be feeling the acute pressure to help their students cope with the challenges of an ever-changing classroom and world.
Lots of students are struggling to adjust and falling behind, whether it is emotionally, socially, or academically. They’re more anxious, frustrated, and restless. During the height of the recent pandemic, we saw record-high numbers of children experiencing both anxiety and depression.
Adding a Physical and Mental Wellness & Mindfulness program that is planned for each classroom may be of benefit. Each day of the week has a particular focus, making it easy to engage students: Mindful Mondays, Twisty Tuesdays, Wind-Down Wednesdays, Theme Thursdays, and Fun Fridays.
Each week the teacher will receive 5 short (maximum 10 minute) videos introducing the theme of that day and the activity for the students to do and if appropriate the handout that goes with it. Plus, directions and helpful tips to get the students practicing mindfulness and movement activities. Each grade will receive its own specific program based on the age group, from JK-Grade 8.
Students will learn specific breathing, physical and mental wellness, mindfulness exercises and games that can be done within ten minutes that they can use throughout their school careers and into adulthood.
Mindful Mondays help to ground the students through breathing and meditation. Twisty Tuesday they become more aware of their bodies. Wind-Down Wednesday provided calming techniques to promote self-regulation and focus. Theme Thursday teaches the students to move, stretch and safely challenge their bodies. Fun Friday helps them to have fun and connect with one another.
This program also fits into the Ontario Health and Physical Education 2019 Curriculum Guidelines.
PS We also provide you with a FREE mindfulness and yoga class for you and your friends or fellow teachers.
